66-72 Gower Street
66-72 Gower Street has several emergency exits, some that are only for particular floors, and others that serve all floors. These are alarmed so should only be opened in an emergency. In order to evacuate the entire building as quickly as possible, you should use the other exits if they are closer to you.
This is fire protected and acts as a Fire escape route.
Green Fire staircase
There is a fire staircase (green) at the rear, south side of the building.
This comes out in a small courtyard owned by University of London Halls of
Residence. A small passage way to the left takes you through to the other
courtyard and to the street exits on Malet Street.
NB: The green staircase is external so can be intimidating at first use if
you're nervous about heights. After a brief familiarisation this
is usually fine, but please notify your trainer when you do a Local Fire
Safety Induction and we can arrange a time to test this out.
Basement: B01 exits into the smaller rear courtyard, through the cage which houses the green stair case. B09 exits into the second rear courtyard, and also into the void at the front of the building.
Ground, 1st, 2nd, 3rd
The main stair case and the green fire

case are the escape routes.
4th, 5th
As well as the main stair case and the green fire
stair
case, there is a 3rd one which is accessed through the door to the
toilets.

Please go to the pavement area on the corner of Gower Street and Torrington Place (outside Waterstones) and await further instructions.Disabilities
