Cal3D

Export

We can now export to Cal3D. Go to the website and download the lastest version, or I grab it directly here. Install it.

Contained within the packacge is a 3DSMax script which will export the character to Cal3D format. Download it directly here.

Before we export, we need to set up the following selection sets:

  1. root - containing only the biped rood node.
  2. mesh - containing all meshes for export.

Also, we need to make sure that the textures are in the materials editor. Press 'm' to bring up the materials editor and for each mesh, use the dropper in a separate box.

When you are ready, drag the export_cal3D.ms file into 3DSMax. The following dialog box will appear:

Configure to the above. For now, we will export in XML format which is human-readable. Click 'Export'.

This process will take some time, but the result should be our base Cal3D character.
