Projects

Information about project assesment and documentation can be found here.

Information on project proposals will be in available in mid November, directly via email, or via links to the web pages of members of staff. Usually, the member of the staff proposing the project will supervise it, but this is not always the case, as we try to load balance the project supervision, for the beneifit of both students and supervisors. As well as suggestions from staff, students can propose their own ideas and discuss them with a member of staff as a potential supervisor. If no specific suggestions have been made by a potential supervisor, then check their web pages to see what their interests are and please contact them directly with project suggestions.

All projects must be group projects - no exceptions.

Important notes:

  • Students must form their own groups. There will be a peice of paper outside my door for you to write the names of the people in your group. If I do not see any progress on forming groups by Thursday 10th December 2009 (the day before the end of term), I will put people into groups myself. So, by end of term, I expect to see everyone in a group. Selection of the project and supervisor can come later if need be.
  • Project groups, project titles and supervisors should be finalised by Friday 15th January 2010, the end of the first week of the Spring Term.
  • Once you have formed a group, and agreed a supervisor, the supervisor should send to me, the name of the project/group and a list of names of the people involved.
  • This year, there will probably be 4 groups of 5 people each. No other configuration will be possible.
  • The inidividual viva voce will be held in the second week of September 2010. Precise dates and times will be announced in due course.
