General information

Please note that courses evolve over time so that the more recent exams are likely to be most relevant to current courses. The course lecturer will be able to provide detailed information.

If you have any queries about past examination papers please ask the lecturer concerned in the first instance, or email n.alexander@cs.ucl.ac.uk.

Exam papers from 2005 to 2011

These are online in the UCL Library Digital Collection. The most recent past papers are loaded by the library in January following the year they were set (e.g. papers set in May 2012 will loaded in January 2013).

Model answers

Students often ask to have model answers to past exam questions.   This question has been raised at the Departmental Staff Student Consultative Committee over many years.  After the SSCC meeting in November 2001 it was taken (again) to the Departmental Teaching Committee for consideration.  Here is the response: "This item was taken to the Teaching Committee Meeting (TCM) of 12/12/01.  There was a lengthy discussion about this at the TCM.  The main view was that learning was an essentially active process.  From this point of view, a written 'guide to answering exam questions' would not be appropriate.  However, it was recognised that students should be given some guidance on how to approach their exams.  The TCM felt that the best  way of providing this guidance was for lecturers to provide directed feedback to those students who had attempted sample questions."

Exam papers from prior to 2005

Many of these are available as paper copies from the UCL Library. However, students should remember that very old papers may cover content that is no longer relevant to today's modules even though the module names may be similar. Information relating to library holdings can be found here.
