Monitoring your Progression: the Graduate School Research Log

The research log is a mandatory part of UCL’s doctoral programmes and is run by the Graduate School.  It provides a framework for recording details related to research such as supervisory meetings and also activities concerning academic and skills development.  So for example, you can set up meetings with your supervisor, record any conferences you present at, and log the training points accrued for departmental- and UCL-run workshops and courses which you attend.

The mandatory section of the Log is the section for recording supervisory meetings.  All research students and their supervisors at UCL are required to give feedback on certain milestones and progression points: e.g. at the start of the course and then at 3, 6, 12, 18 and 36 months.  Please note that these sections must be fully up-to-date before students are permitted to upgrade or enter for the final viva: your supervisor is expected to confirm that you have completed the relevant parts of the Log at these points.

More information is provided on the Graduate School website, including guidelines for set up and use.
