Graduate School New Supervisors Introductory Workshop

It is MANDATORY for all new UCL supervisors to attend the Introductory session.  Even if you have supervised at other institutions you must attend this.  The Graduate School runs other supervision workshops which we recommend you also attend if possible.

Please inform the Research Student Administrator when you have signed up to one of these sessions.  Please check their website for dates and to sign up.

Graduate School Information

  • Graduate School website with a list of useful resources for PhD supervisors.
  • Research Log: as part of the PhD programme at UCL research students are required to complete a Log Book, parts of which require supervisor input.  It can be used to record key and academic skills development undertaken, research progression, and calendar meetings with supervisors.  It is administered by the Graduate School.  It is important to note that UCL is becoming a lot stricter about not allowing students who do not complete this adequately to graduate.

Introduction to Skills Development and the Research Student Log - Induction Session for Research Students and Supervisors

This two and a half hour session is to introduce new research degree students to the UCL Graduate School Skills Development Programme and the Research Student Log, showing how they can be used as powerful tools to enhance the quality and benefit of their research work from the very beginning of their degree. You can find details on this event and how to register on the Graduate School's webpages.
