Extensions to CRS

A student may apply for an extension of CRS or a late submission waiver if there are extenuating circumstances.  If a student wishes to apply for an extension they must discuss this with their supervisor and the Graduate Tutor

See the Registry and Academic Services webpage on extensions to CRS for more information and to download the application form.  The form must be passed to the Postgraduate Administrator for departmental approval.

Late Submission

Please note the below important changes to Academic Regulations:

From the start of the 2010-2011 session, any student who does not submit their thesis by the end of the period of CRS will cease to be registered as a student at this point.  They will not be entitled to access to UCL facilities and services or to supervisory advice and their record will be closed.

In addition, any student who wishes to submit after the end of his or her CRS registration will require permission to do so; this application must be supported by a student’s supervisor or other departmental authority. If granted, the student will be permitted to submit but will not be re-registered unless his or her department require this. If approved, the student will be liable for the late submission fees as given in this page in Registry and Academic Services.

To request permission to submit after the period of CRS has ended supervisors must email Student Records, copying in the Research Student Administrator, confirming that the student's research is still valid, giving the reasons for the student's late submission and the date by which they will be ready to submit.

Please read section 3 (and specifically 3.5) of the 'Academic Regulations for Research Degree Students' for more detailed information.
