I recently finished my PhD on peer-to-peer networks in the Software Systems Engineering Group of the Department of Computer Science at University College London. I also have close ties to the Networks Research Group. My PhD supervisors were Prof. Wolfgang Emmerich and Dr. Cecilia Mascolo (now at Cambridge University), and my studentship was funded by Kodak Ltd.
I currently work as a Research Systems Developer in the department. This role entails the evaluation, the implementation and the management of many kinds of networked computer systems, ranging from traditional web servers and content management systems to computational grids and clusters to server virtualization to storage. The main challenge is to provide researchers with tailored solutions to their often unique problems while keeping the resulting systems cost-effective and manageable.
Before joining UCL, I was awarded a Diplom in Informatik by the Technische Universität Berlin. During the course of my studies, I worked as a research assistant in both software engineering and networking for two institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (ISST, FOKUS) and as a Unix systems administrator.
