Profile
I am a first year PhD Student at UCL, at the Department of Computer Science. My challenge for the next years is to form an idea of how people are moving.
More specifically, I am working on human mobility models, aiming to a more realistic approach; for this reason on a first step, I am going to analyse existing traces collected in repositories such as the one of the CRAWDAD project; The results are going to be used for simulation of protocols for ad hoc networks.
My research work is part of the EPSRC project UbiVal, and it is supported by Dr Cecilia Mascolo, my supervisor.
Education
I was born in Thessaloniki, the absolut city of Greece, in 1981. In 1998 I decided to study Mathematics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where I got my BSc after 4 years. In the meantime I visited the Moscow Aviation Institute for a short time research programm, as well as the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid for one semester as an exchange student.
In 2003 I stepped into the Computer Science field; two years after, in 2005, I received my MSc on Information Systems from the other University of my city, the University of Macedonia.
Since February 2007 I continue my studies as a research student in University College London, after a pause for volunteering work in Berlin during 2006.

Research Interests
Currently I am interested in models describing human mobility.
Other fields of interest are digital signature, software engineering, systems analysis and design.
Other interests
For some mysterious reason, I really like traveling. I also love history, and the last years I became very keen on photography.
Volleyball and skiing are my favorite sports, swimming also. I also like more extreme and risky sports, for example riding my bicycle in a city like Thessaloniki. Moreover I am fond of mountaineering and climbing.
