Virtual Environments and Graphics Group

In February 2006 I moved to the Technical University of Catalunia (UPC) in Barcelona to work on realistic virtual characters in real time immersive virtual environments for research in Presence. In August 2005 I completed the EngD VEIV (Engineering Doctorate in Virtual Environments, Imaging and Vision) programme at UCL. I was supervised by Prof. Bernard F. Buxton and Dr. Celine Loscos. My industrial supervisor was Jonathan Walters from Bodymetrics Ltd., my sponsoring company.  The title of my thesis is Garment Modelling and Visualisation. Owing to commercially critical information in my thesis public access was restricted for two years. Please contact me if you are interested in a copy of my thesis. In autumn 2004 I was awarded a scholarship from the Centre for Scientific Enterprises Limited (CSEL) at London Business School (LBS) in order to evaluate the commercial potential of my research.

Before my EngD I worked as a research assistant at UCL on the following projects:

In collaboration with Prof. Tzvetomir Vassilev and Dr. Yiorgos Chrysanthou
Virtual Clothing 1999-2001.

In collaboration with Dr. David Mizell from Boeing and Prof. Mel Slater
The Influence of Immersion in Virtual Environments on Performance of a Modelling Task: An Experiment 1999.

In collaboration with  Prof. Mel Slater and Dr. Anthony Steed on the COVEN project Virtual Crowds Simulation in DIVE 1998.

In January 2001 I received a Diplom Ingenieur (equivalent to MSc) degree in Computer Science from the Institute of Graphics and Parallel Processing at Johannes Kepler University Linz , Austria. My diploma thesis was on the effective transmission of motion data in networked virtual environments. I was supervised by Prof. Jens Volkert and Dr. Gernot Schaufler.
