IT Girls


Information Technologies are connecting people worldwide, making our lives richer and more comfortable. At present, not enough women in Europe are choosing careers in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) sector. The European Commission decided to do something about the lack of women in IT careers. Every year, the Commission launches a shadowing exercise, working together with some leading companies and universities active in Europe, to give young women a taste of what a job in ICT would be like. The idea has been to show them what a typical day would be like, by accompanying or "shadowing" a female role model for a day.

This year, the Dept of Computer Science has taken part in the shadowing exercise too! Take a look at some pics from the exercise below. If you are a girl or a school interested in taking part in the shadowing activity at UCL/CS for next year, please contact Dr Licia Capra
