My PhD research project was in Comparative Genomics with a
focus was evolutionary genomics and the ellucidation of ancient
evoltionary traits within genomes. I was part of the
CATH structural
classification group in the BSM
lab at UCL.
Previously I have worked at the Genome Centre at Barts and the London Medical schoolas a bioinformatician. Most of the bioinformatics work there was service and support work for a range of wet labs from within QMUL. After that I worked srcuk on the tomato genome sequencing project. I was responsible implementaing high throughput annotation services the annotation and curation of tomato proteins in UK tomato sequencing effort.. Currently I work for The UCL bioinformatics Group developing GenTHREADER and maintaining our web services. |

Jitsu
I'm a member of UCLU Jitsu club, which I joined in October 2000. It's a great laugh, the people are nice and there is a good social side to the club (plug, plug, plug). As a martial art it belongs to the same group as Judo and Shorinji Kempo and involves throwing and grappling techniques, our style is very self defense orientated. If you want to know more you can check out their marvellous web site by going to www.jitsu.uclu.org Music I like music and in a futile attempt to seem cool I also DJ and have and overly large music collection. Previously I have DJ'd in clubs across london from the 414 to and Cargo, before then I helped organise a range of free/illegal parties for sounds systems like 'Smiling Fish Psychedelic Discotheque' and Channel23 (among others). Today it's more of a hobby but you can hear some of my current mixes at my soundcloud page and my Let's Mix page Games Ah yes, the evil lure of the computer game. Well, it all started in 1982 (or was it 1983?) and since then I've played more games than I care to remember. I'm rather good (even if I do say so myself) and I like a well made game. Anyway, I like interesting games, something with a bit of originality and with a bit of thought/elegance in the implementation. Difficult games are also highly welcome (but not unplayable games). I have a review/blog at Itchy Thumbs Cooking I like good food and I'm damn good at cooking. I know you're all dying to get your hands on these Recipes |

I can do all manner of web site malarkey (Ok, HTML, PERL CGI and a tiny bit of javascript really) and have written
and maintain the following sites. I like sites to be fairly straight forward and not
too over designed. I can't believe how many truely awful sites are out there, has
nobody heard of page setting? Has the last 100 years of magazine page design passed
everyone on the planet by? Eh?, Eh? Answer me that.
