Workshop
2nd Sumover Mbone tools Workshop:
15-16 January 2007, Computer Science Department, University College
London, UK.
The goal of this workshop is to continue on from the last workshop. During the first workshop we jointly put together a plan of action, the main points of which have been met by the project. See the previous workshop report for details.
Here is a brief summary of what has been done under the SUMOVER project
so far:
- Set up a Trac/Subversion code management system, with LDAP user
management. Provides for ease of access to code and information, and is
also in use by other projects.
- New features of VIC have been added; including the new logo sending
feature, new windows DirectX capture driver (now shipping in AG3 version
of tools), Rhys' H261as codec, the new Windows installer, Source
Specific Multicast (SSM) support, and various compilation fixes and
updates. There are also a number new features in development from Barz
Hsu (NCHC), and Rhys Hawkins (ANU) including new H.264, MPEG4, and DV
codecs.
- New features of RAT including; new address bar GUI element, new
security icon to indicate encrypted streams, new Windows installer, and
various compilation fixes and updates.
- Various dissemination events on the project, including at AG-retreat
2006, OSS2006, AHM2006.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together the key people in the
projects that are using the tools and continue to work together on a
plan for their future support and development. We are looking for your
input on what is seen as the most important potential work and
development required on the tools from now on. Our basic plan consists
of continuing to stabilise and add new key features to the tools and
liasing with AccessGrid to have the tools integrated into their
releases. We plan to continue to work with the community and enhance
sustainability.
