Description: The Telematic Engineering Area (AIT) is a component of the Communications Technologies Departament, the most important of the School of Telecommunications at Vigo University, regarding teaching tasks. Since all these institutes have been recently founded(late 80s) most of their faculty members are recent graduates and professionals coming from industry. Nevertheless, all them grow fast.
Nowadays, AIT employees 14 full-time and 3 part-time faculty members, two foreign invitated professors and several PhD students.
The most important research areas in the AIT are: automatic verification of system properties, performance analysis in high speed networks and AI real-time applications. Four peole are working in the automatic verification field, two Dr. and two PhD. students. The main items being studied in the field cover:tools for analysis of LOTOS specifications ( complexity evaluation, automatic transformations, states reduction, etc.... ), property verification using temporal logic techniques, specification synthesis based on knowledge of properties and rewriting/narrowing techniques.

Name: Dr. Jose J. Pazos
Nationality: Spanish
Academic Qualifications & Experience: Jose Pazos holds a first degree in Engineering(1987) and a PhD in Telecommunications (1995). Dr. Pazos is currently a full-time member of the AIT in the University of Vigo. He is also a the vice-director of the E.T.S.I. Telecomunicacion, where he has been teaching for the last six years. Previously, he worked in Alcatel Spain as a development engineer, involved in digital telephone systems programming.
His research interests have been recently focused onthe application of temporal logic to the formal specification of communication protocols and the automatic properties verification.
