Description: The Informatics Department of PUC-Rio is a research oriented department with 26 faculty and over 160 graduate students -- half of them enrolled in the Ph.D. program. The Department is also responsible for an undergraduate program with strong ties to the graduate program, with several undergrads taking part in research projects. The Department is regarded as one one of the top departments in the country. It also has a strong international image, since several of the faculty do participate actively on committees and on editorial boards. Founded in 1967, the Department concentrates research efforts in the fields of Software Engineering, Theory, Databases, Computer Graphics, Hypermedia, Computer Networks and Distributed Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Mathematics and Optimization. The Department has associated laboratories with strong ties with industry.

Academic Qualifications & Experience:
Julio Cesar Sampaio do Prado Leite is Associate Professor at the Informatics Department of PUC-Rio. He received his PhD in Computer Science from University of California, Irvine in 1988. He is Editorial Board Member of the Requirements Engineering Journal, member of the IEEE Computer Society Sub-Committee on Reuse and member of the IFIP WG 2.9 ( Software Requirements Engineering). Dr. Leite has been doing research in the areas of Requirements Engineering, Software Reuse and Reverse Engineering and has been publishing at the major conferences of these areas. Dr. Leite was the general chair and program chair of the VII Simpósio Brasileiro de Engenharia de Software held in Rio de Janeiro in 1993. He is a member of ACM, IEEE and elected member of the council of the SBC (Sociedade Brasileira de Computação, Brazilian Computer Society).
