Universität Klagenfurt

Institute Name: Universität Klagenfurt

Description: Universitaet Klagenfurt is a comparatively young institution, located in Austrias southernmost province, Carinthia. It has a Faculty of Economics and Informatics and a Faculty of Humanities with 5000 students, 200 scientists and 150 nonscientific staff. The Department of Informatics of the Universitaet Klagenfurt was founded 10 years ago. It has a staff of 4 full professors and 14 assistants (assistant professors / junior scientists) as well as 10 persons of technical and clerical staff. It is the organizational unit driving the curriculum on Applied Informatics and provides teaching services to the curricula on Mathematics and on Business Administration. The department has various links with industry. The research focus of the department is on various aspects of information systems. Currently it has four research groups organized around the themes of Software Engineering, Data- & Knowledge Engineering, Application Engineering, and Parallel Systems Research. Partner in this project will be the Software Engineering group. It comprises 8 persons, amongst them 5 scientists. The group has pursued some research in requirements engineering over the last years. Further, some cooperative projects on requirements engineering themes were conducted with local industry.
