I gave two presentations:
16th January 1998 at Trinity College:
"Achieving Requirements on Software Systems"
Abstract:
To achieve the requirements on software systems, two basic questions arise:
- Are we building the system that the users need?
- Are we building the system in a way that the elicited requirements are achieved (in particular with respect to changing requirements)?
Our experience with the development of components for hospital information systems was discussed with respect to these issues.
27th January 1998 at St. James's Hospital in Dublin:
"Interdisciplinary requirements analysis for medical information systems"
During the visit I had several in-depth discussions on various concerns of requirements engineering and system architecture with researchers from different institutions in Dublin, in particular:
Trinity College (TCD):
Jane Grimson:
Distributed information systems, Medical Informatics
Gaye Stephens:
The application of use cases in Synapses
Communication architecture in Synapses
Eoghan Felton:
System architecture and communication in Synapses
Benjamin Jung:
Medical Informatics
Modeling of medical information (XML)
Vincent Wade:
Modeling distributed software systems with the UML
Bing Wu:
Modeling Requirements
Migrating Legacy Systems
City University (DCU):
John Murphy:
Formal modeling of software architectures
Mark Roantree:
Distributed software architectures, CORBA
Institute of Technology (DIT):
William Grimson:

Medical Information Systems
We arranged for a visit to the University of Dortmund by John Murphy
and Mark Roantree in 1998. At least one joint paper will be written.
