main work that I saw involved the monitoring of a project for deviation
from process standards. The idea is that if a project is
supposed to follow a particular standard in their processes, such as
MIL-STD-2197, it is important to allow deviations from the standard but
be aware of the amount of deviation. For a variety of reasons, deviations
should be allowed but uncontrolled deviations are a sure recipe for disaster.
At UCL, they are developing a protoype tool based on the DOORS requirements
engineering tool for monitoring standards compliance. The user can define
the requirements of the standard in DOORS. This is a rather clever use
of a requirements engineering tool. The tool is currently a single-user
version and ovisouly will need to be extended for use in projects that
consist of more than one
member.
