UCL CS Named in the 10 Most Improved Computer Science Departments Internationally
UCL Computer Science is one of the world’s 10 most improved CS Departments this year, according to the QS World University Rankings 2018.
The QS World University Rankings produce an annual comparison of the world’s leading institutions. They employ a methodology of six simple metrics, which they believe effectively capture university performance, to explore top universities by region and subject. These include research impact, employer and academic reputations and citations.
The only UK institution to feature on this list of most improved top computer science departments, UCL CS has moved up from 37th to 32nd in the world this year. UCL Computer Science is ranked 5th best in the UK, behind the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Imperial College London and the University of Edinburgh.
TopUniversities.com writes that students in UCL Computer Science “benefit from the university’s excellent purpose-built laboratory and experiment facilities, world class researchers as lecturers, and close connections with industry due to the university’s ideal location in central London.”
UCL also boasts one of the country’s largest technology societies, UCL TechSoc.
