Abstract

I have recently joined the GIFT-Surg team of CMIC, whose research work aims to provide novel surgical instrumentation and image processing methods for aiding surgeons in the pre-natal therapy of congenital anomalies like twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), myelomeningocele (spina bifida), among various others. My core responsibility pertains to the development of the software platform that will bring GIFT-Surg research into practical use within the clinical environment, integrating the novel hardware and software developed by the GIFT-Surg team. In the first part of my talk I will introduce my research work prior to joining CMIC. In the second part I will present our vision for bringing the GIFT-Surg research into clinical use. In particular I will talk about our secure online collaboration and data sharing platform GIFT-Cloud, and also briefly discuss some potential clinical software applications for pre-operative planning and intra-operative guidance in pre-natal fetal surgery.
