As you may be aware, BCS is currently running a scheme with the Department for Education to award scholarships to trainee Computer Science teachers. The scheme has been designed to promote Computer Science teaching as a rewarding career option. This scheme is also a vital part of our efforts to build Computer Science teaching capacity among schools and therefore increase the number of schools able to offer it.
Each scholar will be paid £20,000 (tax free) whilst on a teacher training course in England. Each successful scholar will also be given Associate membership (AMBCS) of BCS and will be supported by the Computing at School (CAS) network of regional hubs and Master Teachers.
The closing date for applications is 1st June 2013 with the scholarships available for students starting their teacher training in September 2013.
I would be most grateful if you could promote the scheme to your students. Further information can be found here: academy.bcs.org/scholarships From this page you can also download a PDF copy of our promotional leaflet should you wish to distribute to your students.
Many thanks
