Entry Requirements
MSc Computer Science Entry Requirements
- Lower second-class Honours degree or higher from a UK university, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard, is required.
- Your degree must be in a subject other than computer science/information technology or any other degree with high computing content.
- If you have more than three IT/Computer Science modules in your first degree you would be considered over qualified.
- Maths A level or equivalent, or a maths module at degree level.
- You must be able to demonstrate that you have some existing programming skills, evidenced by one of the following: Minimum one module and maximum 3 modules in programming during first degree. A minimum of one year and a maximum of three years work experience in programming, or an A-Level in Computer Science that includes programming. A programme that you have written and submitted along with your application, the program should be one to four pages long and include a one page description of how it works.
MSc Financial Computing Entry Requirements
- A First or Upper second-class Honours degree from a UK university, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard, is required.
- Your degree must be in Medical Sciences, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Life Science, Engineering; or your degree must be in Finance, Economics, Business, Management, where the mathematical content is emphasised. You should not have a computer science/information technology or any other degree with high computing content, as a previous degree.
- If you have more than three Computer Science modules in your first degree you would be considered over qualified.
- A level Mathematics or equivalent, or a maths module at degree level.
- You must be able to demonstrate that you have some existing programming skills, evidenced by one of the following: Minimum one module and maximum 3 modules in programming during first degree. A minimum of one year and a maximum of three years work experience in programming, or an A-level in IT/Computer Science that includes programming. A programme that you have written and submitted along with your application, the program should be one to four pages long and include a one-page description of how it works.
English Language Requirements (needed in addition to above requirements)
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) :
- MSc Computer Science: Overall grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each of the subtests.
- MSc Financial Computing: Overall grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each of the subtests.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
Paper based version
- MSc Computer Science: Score of 580, plus 4 in Test of Written English (TWE).
- MSc Financial Computing: Score of 600, plus 5 in Test of Written English (TWE).
Internet based version
- MSc Computer Science: Score of 92, plus 24/30 in the reading and writing subtests and 23/30 in the listening and speaking subtests.
- MSc Financial Computing: Score of 100, plus 24/30 in the reading and writing subtests and 23/30 in the listening and speaking subtests.
